CONTRASTS OF TWO KINGDOMS

CONTRASTS OF TWO KINGDOMS

Our Prez moved too rapidly for his conscience to keep pace.
The world blurs beneath him, decisions born of impulse,
leaping over reason, trampling well-thought hesitations.
While the Christ I follow leans gently downward in grace
pausing to lift a fallen child, with human sorrow to exult
His presence for the heartbeat of mercy with adoration.

Impulse crowned as strength and fear dressed as command.
Blustering comments with a frightening appearance
with shadows dictating obedience, trembling in their wake.
Meekness, instead, walking softly hand in hand
bearing a scepter not of iron but of tranquil love.
Wearing a crown stitched from honest tolerance
inviting the weary to rest, teaching pride we must forsake.

Paranoia festers where cover-ups seem to linger.
Suspicion then appears, whispering conspiracies,
trust is abandoned at the touch of each finger.
Our Counselor induces logic and reason and consistency
tenderly guiding the forlorn to enlightened paths.
Holding the broken-hearted suffering from an aftermath
breathing courage into disappointment and despair.

Desire reaching too far is grasping what cannot be held.
Greed wraps itself around what is a fleeting moment
trying to clench eternity in a fist like a dominant infidel.
Hands open with multiplying fish instead to feed the hungry,
touch the abandoned forgiving prostitutes and omens.
Offering a loaf of bread with drink speaking so snugly,
within these small acts, the world is whole without opponents.

Lawlessness unmasked, families starve beneath this greed.
Walls of poverty rise while unnutured hearts sadly implore
for humanism to become a factor in their moment of need.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall inherit the earth.
For mercy will replace scarcity into plentitude and mirth.
Hunger turns into hopefulness with philanthropy restored,
and despair into the soft light of human dignity will succeed.

Bread, shelter, and health made scarce as capitalism flourishes.
Those with the least will plead silently to the Lord of abundance.
Nonetheless their cries are muted by indifference, so obscene.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for their might will be foreseen
bridging gaps in compassion mending wounds with radiance.
Turning cities into protected sanctuaries as peace will nourish
making justice bloom in unlikely soil like a beanstalk so wondrous.

Iron words shake supposed allies’ hands whose tactics are blunder.
Promises forged in sinister quarters are like lightning and thunder,
Threats dressed as litmus tests bringing a game of false loyalty.
Justice stands tall like a fortress of reasoning and accountability,
not in fear but in faithfulness to righteousness without royalty.
Unyielding is yet tender to sensitives souls who build amiability.
This is the foundation for lasting peace as our foremost priority.

Distant lands under the United Nations are threatened as prizes.
Maps are drawn with the edges of a sword and evil contrabands.
Lives calculated as points for the narcissistic and egoistic conquest.
Love flows where fear once attempted to gloomily reign at best.
Rivers of mercy are carving paths through unfertile barren lands.
As modifying modern agriculture into the communal farming rises
enemies will be brothers, strangers change into neighbors who understand.

Grievances shouted, supposed enemies cast as monsters.
Every slight dissimilarity magnified into nefarious battle.
Every word a weapon of insult and humiliation.
Pray for your enemies, saith the Lord of Bethlehem,
and turn your wrath into counseling the impostors.
Transforming anger into mutual understanding instead of mayhem,
and hatred into a bridge of sincere dialogue and reformation.

Overreaching without reason, irrationality in motion
bringing the world bending under reckless ambition.
Destructive fractures are deepening where logic has fled.
Rivers forging forward heightening stoicism. Patience
shaping the landscape with solitude and persistence.
Teaching endurance where impulsiveness has bled.

Walls rise, shadows lengthen, while terror masquerades as power.
Gates are closing, fearing septic festers while silence screams.
Intimidating the fearful’s inferiority being haunted by ugly dreams.
Light persists, healing flows; the meek shall inherit the earth,
illuminating corners left dark since the salutation of birth.
Welcoming the forgotten into the warmth of blooming flowers,
superior to tyranny with a pluralistic enthusiasm devoid of dearth.

Greed feeds only the few, while hunger devours the many.
The powerful swell with glutinous excesses with imperial living
while the masses cling to their crumbs and scraps without a penny.
Mercy walks unseen for internally inhabits the Living God who’s giving
and waiting for hands to open and for exquisite hearts to answer
this quiet passage. Soon our planet tilts toward justice lifting
equity to maxims of existence. We’ll be sharing our lives without envy.
